Free Markdown converter or prepared Word template: choose by the work you need

Disclosure: I make AI Output Delivery Kit and sell its optional Weekly Status Report Pack. The pack's paid value has not been validated with real customers; you may not need it.

A converter and a report template solve different problems. A converter turns your supported Markdown structure into an editable DOCX. A prepared template gives you an existing report structure and document to edit. Neither establishes whether a project's status is correct. Decide which work is missing before spending anything: formatting text, organizing the update, or checking the underlying evidence.

Try the free route with a complete small report

Use a fictional example first. The following outline deliberately separates a measured result, an unresolved decision, and an action. Copy it into a file named maple-weekly.md. All names, records and numbers are invented.

# Maple weekly status

Fictional practice report. Reporting cutoff: 30 October 2026.

## Summary
Two of three review checks passed. The third awaits an owner.
This describes the review checklist, not project completion.

## Progress
| Check | Result | Evidence |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Draft reviewed | Passed | Practice note A |
| Links checked | Passed | Practice note B |
| Approval recorded | Blocked | No approver assigned |

## Decision needed
Confirm who can approve the report. Owner: Needs confirmation.

## Next action
Record the approver and request review. Due: Needs confirmation.

## Review record
Practice only. No real client approval has occurred.

Paste this into the free converter. Leave the optional document title blank because the source already contains one. Export the editor as DOCX. The expected structural result is a title heading, five section headings, and a three-column table with one header row and three data rows. The words “Needs confirmation” should remain visible twice. The download is named document.docx; rename it before doing another export.

Open the document in the recipient's editor. Check the table cells, page boundaries and editability. You can also build the same outline directly in Word or adapt an existing organizational template. If either approach meets your requirements, there is no need to buy a pack. Free batch conversion and ZIP download remain available without a purchase.

Identify the part you would otherwise prepare yourself

If your problem is “my Markdown needs a DOCX,” conversion may be enough. If it is “I have no consistent way to report evidence, risks and decisions,” a reusable outline may help, whether you create it yourself or use an existing one. A prepared layout is useful only if it matches how you work and survives your actual edits.

The sample above is deliberately small. A recurring report may need a reporting period, evidence cutoff, summary, delivery progress, risks, decisions, next actions and a review record. Write down which of those sections your reader actually uses. Remove unnecessary sections rather than collecting blank fields every week. Do not replace unknowns with invented owners or dates to make a template appear complete.

What the actual pack contains

The optional Weekly Status Report Pack is listed at $19 one-time; taxes may apply. Inspection of the customer ZIP found these eight files:

The fictional DOCX illustrates a specific reporting distinction: nine of twelve readiness checks passed, but that does not mean the project is 75% complete. Two checks remain blocked, one is unrun, and the launch target is conditional. Its E01–E05 records and named reviewer are invented teaching material, not customer evidence or a real approval.

Choose a route without mixing the artifacts

To use the prepared layout, copy and edit the supplied DOCX. To use Markdown, complete a Markdown copy and convert it separately. The converter does not import DOCX templates or inherit their formatting. The prepared Word files were authored separately; they are not proof of the converter's exact layout.

Keep converted files in a separate folder because their basenames can match the supplied DOCX files. A fresh export needs its own pagination review. Earlier pack checks used LibreOffice; Microsoft Word itself and real iOS Safari remain unverified. Structural tests do not establish identical rendering in those environments.

Buy only if the actual documents and workflow are useful enough to you to justify their price. There is no demonstrated customer time saving or business outcome to promise here. Try the free outline first, retain the sections that help, and inspect the current listing and existing terms before deciding.
